This is a extremely rare Kweichow Moutai WuXing (Vintage Five-Star), bottled for the Chinese domestic market June 6th 1952, one year after the founding of Kweichow but still produced at Hengxing, run by Lai Mao (known for the record-selling 1935 bottle, the oldest Moutai known in existence), one of 3 distilleries which eventually formed Kweichow Moutai. In September 1952, three months after the release of this bottle, Moutai was one of 4 liquors/wines which were selected in the national wine appraisal held in Beijing. Between 1952 and 1966 Kweichow Moutai was sold in 3-mold ceramic earthenware decanters, produced in Guizhou, nicknamed Bamboo Joint bottles. 

 Content and % ABV are not stated, such information first appeared on the Feitian bottles in 1976. We estimate this to be a 545ml bottle with 55% ABV.

Between 1952 and 1966 Kweichow Moutai was sold in 3-mold ceramic earthenware decanters nicknamed Bamboo Joint bottles. The shape of these bottles and the labels changed annually.

This is the first edition Suntory Aritayaki, released in 1992, containing a special blended whisky which has been aged for more than 22 years. The heavy square decanter depicts a festive phoenix, decorated with peonies and plums.

The Arita and Kutani ceramic decanters were an annual limited release from Suntory, bottled between 2001 and 2014. Each one contains their exceptional Hibiki 21 year old blend, which contains malt from their Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries, and grain from the Chita distillery. Arita and Kutani are the pre-eminent ceramic houses in Japan, both located on the islad of Kyushu. Each year, both houses designed a decanter each, and they are all hand-painted.

This is a rare, perhaps unique bottle: Rare Old Alp Whisky, distilled, blended and bottled by Settsu Brewery Co. Ltd. According to the history book Settsu never distilled whisky but yet we have this bottle. According to its back label this whisky was revised (re-bottled?) April 1, 1945 by Daicchi Sake Brewery Co. Ltd.

This amazing Chichibu is the 9th in the "Ghost Series', selected in 2018 by Stefan van Eycken and Hideo Yamaha for Whisky Rising Japanese edition. Artwork is from renown Japanese artist Yoshitoshi, who lived and worked in the middle of the 19th century. This is one of 129 bottles.

Suntory Age Unknown is a 1989 limited release of 300 bottles, selected from the finest barrels in the Yamazaki aging warehouses in celebration of the life of Keizo Saji and his receipt of the Order of the Sacred Treasure. The whisky itself is beween 25 and 30 years old, but how old exactly is unknown, hence the catching name....

This Suntory 1986 Vintage Malt, distilled at Yamazaki, was bottled in 2005 after aging some 19 years on a Sherry Hogshead.

Yamazaki's 1982 Sherry Wood, aged for 15 years, was released in October 1997 and has become a legend in its own time.
