There is a subtle note of petrol is present on the admirably pure and cool aromas of apple, pear, lemon-lime and mineral reduction. The succulent, concentrated and almost painfully intense larger-scaled flavors brim with both dry extract and an almost aggressive stoniness that adds a sense of lift to the powerful yet refined, chalky and youthfully austere finale. Like the '21 version, this compact, bone-dry and borderline tannic effort is clearly very backward, and I would expect an almost glacial evolution in bottle though it should be well worth the wait. But in 1913, a panel of international tasters in Ghent, Belgium awarded Jack Daniel’s another Gold Medal of excellence, signalling to the world that the old-time character of Jack Daniel’s would remain unchanged from generation to generation. This 750ml bottle, released in 1998, commemorates the third Gold Medal won by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey.
