Jack Daniel's Barrelhouse 1 batch B001
The barrelhouses located on the grounds of the Jack Daniel Distillery play a very important role in the whiskey-making process. It is in these buildings that new barrels of whiskey are placed and allowed to mature over the course of several years. Due to different variables in the aging process, this is not an exact science or one that relies on a calendar. Instead, the Distillery’s experienced tasters decide when each whiskey has aged to perfection, at which time the barrel is removed from the barrelhouse and sent to bottling.

It was to commemorate one of the Distillery’s oldest and most famed barrelhouses, a 7-story building aptly named “Barrelhouse 1,” that the first of these bottles was released in the summer of 1994. This first batch of these 94 proof whiskey bottles is the most common a collector may come across, though a much smaller second batch was produced in the winter of 1999.

Jack Daniel's 1913 Gold Medal
When Mr. Jack died in 1911, some feared the distinctive character of his Tennessee Whiskey would pass into history with him. But in 1913, a panel of international tasters in Ghent, Belgium awarded Jack Daniel’s another Gold Medal of excellence, signalling to the world that the old-time character of Jack Daniel’s would remain unchanged from generation to generation. This 750ml bottle, released in 1998, commemorates the third Gold Medal won by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey.

Jack Daniel's 1904 Gold Medal
In 1904, at the urging of family and friends, Jack Daniel took some of his whiskey to the World’s Fair whiskey competition in St. Louis, Missouri. Not many of the big distillers gave Mr. Jack much of a chance, but when it was over, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey was declared the finest whiskey in the world and was awarded the Gold Medal. This 750ml bottle, released in 1996, was the first in a series honoring each Gold Medal won by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey.

Jack Daniel's 1914 Gold Medal
Even as Prohibition was sweeping the United States, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey was still winning awards. In 1914, Lem Motlow, Jack Daniel’s nephew, took Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey to London, England. Even though the Jack Daniel Distillery was no longer producing whiskey, Lem was quick to ship across the sea a batch he had on hand, and the whiskey from Tennessee again took top honors in the Anglo-American Exposition. The 1914 Gold Medal, released in 2001, is the fourth of the Gold Medal series.

Jack Daniel's Master Distiller Japan
This is the very first release of Jack Daniel's Master Distiller, bottled exclusively for the Japanese market in the 1990's.

The story: Mr. Jack Daniel liked to present his friends with a special gift. The gift was Jack Daniel's whisky that had to be from a special location in a certain barrel house which, he knew, took a darker color and a richer taste. He would set the whiskey aside, sign the labels, and keep a small supply for close friends and gift-giving. This Jack Daniel's Master Distiller is hand selected from the same special locations in the same barrel houses that Mr. Jack discovered.
