This is a rare, perhaps unique bottle: Rare Old Alp Whisky, distilled, blended and bottled by Settsu Brewery Co. Ltd. According to the history book Settsu never distilled whisky but yet we have this bottle. According to its back label this whisky was revised (re-bottled?) April 1, 1945 by Daicchi Sake Brewery Co. Ltd.

This Sasanokawa Shuzo Yamazakura Rare Old Whisky was released in 2015 in honor of the 250th anniversary of Sasanokawa Shuzo. Aged on a ex-Maker's Mark Bourbon Barrel for more than 40 years this is one of just 100 decanters.

Sasanokawa Shuzo Yamazakura 50 years old, distilled 1965, is a limited edition of just 60 decanters, bottled especially for Takashimaya in 2015.

Shirakawa Single Malt is amongst the rarest of it's kind on the planet. The final remaining Shirakawa vintage malt was identified in Takara Shuzo’s Kurokabegura in 2019. The liquid had been distilled in 1958, aged in cask, then transferred to ceramic jars at the distillery. When Shirakawa closed, it was put into stainless steel tanks at Takara Shuzo’s factory in Kyushu where it lay untouched until 2019. This whisky was bottled and released on the market on 13th September 2022.

According to experts there is no other Single Malt Shirakawa known to exist but yet we have one: Shirakawa King Whisky Pure Malt 12 years old, not to be confused with the blended Shirakawa which was sold under the same name, often containing Scottish malts from Aberlour, Macalland and Laphroaig.. This bottle appears to be a 1980's release and, as such, it's highly unlikely it does containing anything else then Shirakawa Pure (Single) Malt.

Shizuoka Ghost Series #20, this non-peated whisky was distilled in December 2019 and aged in single ex-Bourbon cask #1809. It was bottled at cask strength in January 2023 and limited to just 224 bottles.

This Yamazakura Pure Malt has been bottled at cask strength in Spring 2015. Although it has been stated as 15 years old it actually matured over 20 years before being transferred to (steel) tanks after Yamazakura was mothballed in 1998.

This is a 30 year old blended Matsui whisky from Japan. Matsui whisky has a chequered past, originally bottling what was actually imported Scotch that had been aged in Japan at the Matsui-Shuzo warehouses and using packaging suspiciously similar to Suntory products.

Yamazakura 10 years old, distilled prior to 1998. This Pure Malt is a blend two malt whiskies, one aged in Bourbon for 10 years, the other one aged in Bourbon for 9 years and in New American Oak for one more year. Finally finished in Mizunara Cask and released in 2017.

Selected by Japanese whisky godfather, Stefan van Eycken with Hideo Yamaoka as part of their 'Ghost Series', edition #15 is a 4-year-old Akashi, made from single malts matured in sherry and bourbon barrels which were then vatted in a Tawny Port cask for one more year.

The label is based on the woodblock print series 'New Forms of Thirty-six Ghosts (1889-1892)' by Yoshitoshi Tsukioka, an ukiyo-e painter who was active from the end of the Edo period to the middle of the Meiji period, and expresses the unique aspects of Japanese whisky. This is 1 of 849 bottles.
