Kweichow Moutai 1972-1975 Kuíhuā
In 1968 the Revolutionary Committee of Kweichow Moutai Distillery announced the replacement of the Feitian export label by a new logo depicting a sunflower (Kuíhuā). A total of 4 different designs of the sunflower were drawn, one of them depicting of a big-leaf sunflower, designed by the Guiyang City Arts and Crafts Research Institute. Initially the big-leaf sunflower was chosen and some labels were printed but almost instantly rejected and replaced by the final choice which became known as the small-leaf sunflower. The sunflower brand was registered March 30, 1968.
In April 1973 the distillery was ordered to replace the sunflower labels for the export bottles by Feitian labels, as it used to be before 1968, but it took until 1976 before the situation was completely restored. Sunflower Moutai, provided with streamers, were sold from 1972 until 1975 which allows us to determine the period in which this bottle was produced.
