Wild Turkey is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskey made by the Austin Nichols Distilling Company. The name Wild Turkey was made up after a 1940’s wild turkey hunting trip by distillery executive Thomas McCarthy during which he shared some warehouse samples with his fellow-hunters. The year thereafter his friends asked for “some of that wild turkey whiskey”, and a brand was born.
